The leaves are scaly, dark green and fragrant.
An evergreen cypress, 40-60 feet tall and 5-10 feet wide, slow growing; can be pruned to any height.
It has an upright, narrow columnar habit with a reddish-brown, rounded trunk and is fertilized in the spring.
They make great hedges, tall screens or windbreaks when planted in rows, 2-3 feet apart is recommended;
The dwarf variety reaches 25-30 feet tall and 3 feet wide.
