Why can't I just "notarize a driver's license or utility bill"?
California notarization focuses on verifying the identity of the signer and performing notarization on the statement or other documents signed by the person. Therefore, for standard driver's licenses, green cards, tax forms, or utility bills, it is inaccurate to simply label a photocopy as a "certified true copy by a California notary."
This service focuses on the Statement of US Residence signed by you, incorporating other documents as supporting materials, followed by Apostille processing for eligible notarized documents.
Why is an Apostille needed?
Once the Statement of US Residence is notarized, if the document is to be used outside the United States, an Apostille is required. The Apostille authenticates the signature, identity, and seal of the notary public (or other public official) on the document.
